Our company, Munda Baba Farmer Producer Company Limited, is based out of Satish Kumar’s house in Dhoriher. It is house number one, so it is easy to find if you are coming through the Hasanganj area in Unnao. We have been farming these lands for a long time, but forming this company was a new step for us. It is mostly just neighbors and relatives working together to figure out how to sell what we grow without losing too much money to the middle agents. The village life in Uttar Pradesh is what we know best. Some days are good and some are just alright, depending on the weather and the crops. We do not have any big slogans or anything like that. We just gather at Satish’s place and talk about what needs to be done for the next season. The paperwork was a bit confusing at first because none of us are used to all these rules, but we are learning as we go. Unnao is a place with a lot of potential if you work hard enough. We spend a lot of time checking the soil and worrying about the rain. It is a slow process building something like this from the ground up, but we are all in it together. We don't have a receptionist or fancy furniture, just some plastic chairs and a lot of commitment to the work we do in the fields every single day.
