Maarka Farmer Producer Company Limited is located over at Shital Jhiri. We operate out of Surendra Kumar Varkade’s place. It’s a local collective where we bring together the work of several farmers in the area. We didn't start this to become some big industrial giant. We just wanted a way to manage our crops together. Surendra handles a lot of the organization, though we all pitch in. The office is just a part of the house really. It’s where the records are kept and where we sit down to drink tea and talk shop. Farming in Shital Jhiri has its challenges, but having the company helps us stay on track. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most people find us through word of mouth. We deal with the soil every day and that’s what we know. The paperwork can be a headache sometimes, but we get through it. It’s just a practical, local business. We focus on getting the harvest ready and making sure it goes where it’s supposed to. There’s nothing polished about us. We’re just regular people working the land and trying to do a bit better for ourselves. It’s a slow and steady kind of life here. We don't need any big titles to do what we do. Just the fields and some good neighbors working together.
