Jaganoo Farmer Producer Company Limited

Jaganoo Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Udhampur, specifically in the Basan area of Jaganoo. We usually meet up at Munshi Singh’s place when we need to discuss business or sort out things for the season. Being in the Doda region means we deal with some hilly terrain and the weather can be a bit unpredictable compared to the plains. Most of the people involved here are local farmers who have spent their whole lives in these parts. We started this company because it was getting harder for each of us to sell our stuff individually without getting pushed around on the prices. By working as one group, we can share the load and maybe get things done a bit faster. It’s not always easy to get everyone on the same page, but we try our best. There is a lot of maize and other local crops grown around here, and we just want to see everyone get a fair share for the sweat they put into the ground. We aren't looking to become some massive corporation; we just want to keep our way of life going. The office side of things is handled simply, without any complicated systems. We mostly talk face to face while working or sitting down after the sun goes up. It's a community effort more than anything else, rooted right here in the soil of Jammu and Kashmir. We take it year by year.
