Life at Udaipur Indigenous Milk & Vegetable is pretty straightforward. We operate out of Badgaon on Nadi Road, right near the Ambamata Mandir. It is a beautiful part of Udaipur, but we don't spend much time looking at the view. Our mornings start way before the sun is even up. That is the nature of the milk and vegetable business. You have to be early if you want things to stay fresh. The air around the Nadi Road office usually smells like fresh greens and cold earth. We spend our time coordinating with the local producers and making sure the crates are loaded and the milk is handled right. It is a messy job sometimes. There is water on the floor and people shouting orders to get the trucks moving. We are not a big corporation with fancy uniforms. Most of us are just in our regular clothes, getting our hands dirty. The Katara Paldi area is home to us, and we know the shortcuts and the people around here. It is about getting good food to the tables in Udaipur without making a big fuss about it. We have our small office where we keep the books, but the real work happens outside in the loading area and on the road. It is tired work, but it feels right at the end of the day.
