South Indian Roadlines

You can find us at South Indian Roadlines, number 8 in Sukher, right near the Diamond Petrol Pump. Being so close to the pump means there’s a constant smell of diesel and the sound of big engines idling just outside our door. It’s a very busy spot. We see a lot of trucks coming and going all through the night and into the early morning. Our office is simple, just a place to keep the ledgers and a spot for the drivers to rest their legs for a few minutes before hitting the road again. We don't have a big neon sign, just the usual painted boards. The area around Sukher is always active because it’s so close to the highway. Sometimes the dust from the road gets into every corner of the room, so we’re always having to wipe down the tables and the chairs. I’ve been working out of this particular location for many years now. It’s convenient because the drivers can fill up their tanks and then walk over to get their papers signed and checked. We keep a water cooler in the corner for anyone who’s thirsty after a long drive. The chairs are old and the floor has a few cracks, but it works fine for us. We don't worry about being fancy or looking modern. We just focus on the loads and making sure the drivers know their routes. It's a lot of coordination and talking over the noise of the traffic. Every single day is a bit different.
