You can find us at Dhanmandi 68, which is a busy spot especially when the holidays are coming up. Shree Mahaveer Bartan Store is packed with all kinds of utensils. We have stacks of steel plates that go all the way to the ceiling, and sometimes I worry the whole pile might tip over if I’m not careful. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll usually see one of us sitting behind the small counter or climbing a ladder to find a specific size of cooking pot. The shop has been here a long time, and the floor is a bit worn out from all the people walking in and out over the years. We don't do much advertising; people just know we are here in Dhanmandi. Dealing with customers can be tiring because everyone wants to negotiate, but that’s just part of the game. We spend a lot of time polishing the brass items because they get dull if they just sit there. It’s a lot of manual work, moving heavy sets of bowls and tiffins around. The back room is always a bit of a disaster area with cardboard boxes and packing straw everywhere. We just try to keep things honest and give people what they need for their homes. It’s a simple life, surrounded by the sound of metal clinking and the voices of the market outside.
