You can find Shree Kalajee Transport Co just before the Pratap Toll Naka in Pratap Nagar. Being so close to the toll means we see every truck that comes in and out of this side of town. It’s a very dusty location because of all the traffic, but it’s perfect for what we do. We set up shop here so we could be right where the action is. Most of our work involves long-haul trips. We spend hours talking to drivers who are stopping for a break or waiting for their papers to be cleared. The office is just a simple room with some chairs and a big desk where we keep the registers. We don't use much technology, just a couple of mobile phones that never stop ringing. It gets very busy at night when the big rigs start moving again after the daytime entry restrictions are lifted. We’ve been operating from this spot for several years now. We know all the dhaba owners nearby and often catch up with them. It’s a hard life on the road for the drivers, so we try to make things as smooth as we can from the office side. There isn't any fancy lobby or air conditioning here. It’s just a place of work. We handle various types of cargo, from construction materials to household items. It’s just us doing our best without making a big deal of it.
