New Dasmesh Transport Co has been based at 34 - D in Pratap Nagar for a good while. We’re right there in Transport Nagar, which is always a hive of activity, especially with all the trucks lining up along Chittor Road. It can be a bit of a mess with all the dust and the noise, but it's where we belong. Our office is pretty straightforward. There’s a tea stall not far away where we spend half our time talking to drivers. We handle whatever comes our way, mostly moving stuff up and down the road. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we don’t have any big corporate ideas. We just want to make sure the goods get where they need to go. Some days are longer than others, especially when a truck breaks down or someone gets delayed on the highway. We’ve seen the area change over the years, more buildings going up and more traffic on Chittor Road, but the work stays the same. People know us by our name and our spot in Pratap Nagar. We don't use fancy computers for everything; a lot of it is still done in ledgers and on pieces of paper tucked into pockets. If you walk through Transport Nagar, you'll see us there, probably loading or unloading something. We don't make big promises, we just show up and do the job as best as we can given the circumstances.
