Mewad Bhumi Farmer Producer Company Limited is run by us farmers from the Sarsi area near Nimbahera. Prakash Chandra Dhakad, Babu Lal’s son, is the one who helps us stay organized at his place in the village. We’ve all been farming in Chittorgarh for as long as we can remember. It’s hard work, and sometimes it feels like we’re at the mercy of the weather and the buyers. By forming this company, we’re just trying to have a bit more control over our own lives. We don’t have a fancy corporate structure. Most of our meetings happen in the fields or at Prakash's house. We talk about what seeds are working and how to get our crops to the market without losing too much money. It’s a very local thing. We know every family in Sarsi and the surrounding spots. The paperwork is something we handle because we have to, not because we enjoy it. We’re much more comfortable checking on the plants than sitting behind a desk. If you’re looking for a polished business with brochures, that’s not us. We are just people from Mewad Bhumi who care about the land and want to make sure our families are taken care of. It’s a practical, everyday effort. We take things one day at a time and try to learn as we go along.
