Chetak Udhyog

You can find Chetak Udhyog in Baddar Mohalla, right near the Shribalaji bus stand. It is a very busy spot because of all the buses coming and going at all hours. We have been here for a long time in this same building. We make various small items that people in the neighborhood need for their daily life. It is not a big factory, just a small unit with a couple of machines that make a lot of noise. We are used to the sound by now, though. The front of the shop is where we keep the finished products. We don't have a fancy display or bright lights. It is just a practical space where we work. My cousin and I run the place and we do everything from the manufacturing to the cleaning. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few hours and we just sit outside and talk to the neighbors until it comes back on. We don't have a corporate structure or any bosses. We just do what needs to be done each day. People know us as the place near the bus stand. We don't spend money on advertising because word of mouth has always been enough for us. It is just a basic, honest business that keeps us going. Most days we are here from dawn until the last bus leaves the stand.
