Abhinandan

Abhinandan is over on Maldas Street, right at number 61. If you know where Aradhana Bhawan is, you can’t miss us because we are directly opposite to it. This street is always packed with people and scooters, especially in the afternoons when everyone is out shopping. My family has been working in this shop for a long time. It’s not a very big place, so we have to stack things pretty high on the shelves to make everything fit. Sometimes it gets a little messy when we have a lot of stock coming in, but we manage to find what people are looking for eventually. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. People mostly just find us because they are already on the street or their parents used to come here. Dealing with the heat in the summer is probably the hardest part, as the fans just move the warm air around. We usually sit on the stools near the entrance to catch whatever breeze comes through the door. It is a simple way of living, just opening the shop in the morning and closing up when the street goes quiet at night. We see a lot of the same faces every day, which is nice. Most of our time is spent unfolding things for customers and then folding them back up again. It is just honest work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
