Penna Cement

Out here at 214 Ettayapuram Road, things move at a certain pace. We are based in Muthammal Colony, which is a place where everyone seems to know everyone else’s business. Penna Cement is just what we do here, and we’ve got our space set up to handle all the bags that come through. The road outside can get really hot in the afternoons, and the dust from the passing trucks tends to settle on everything if we don’t keep on top of it. It’s a lot of physical work, stacking and unstacking, but that’s the nature of the cement trade. We don't have any big corporate mission or anything like that, we just want to make sure the bags are loaded right and the orders are correct. The yard at 214 is big enough for what we need, even if it feels a bit tight when a big delivery arrives. We see a lot of the same faces every week, mostly local builders and guys from around the colony. It’s a practical kind of life, and we don't really try to make it sound like more than it is. Just a bunch of us working at a spot on Ettayapuram Road, trying to stay busy and keep things moving along. Sometimes we sit out front when it gets a bit cooler in the evening before we close up the shop for the night. It's just a regular workday for us.
