Our place, Nuvoco Vistas Corp Ltd., is situated at number 76 on Highway Road. A good landmark for finding us is the India Petrol Bank in Shanmugapuram. Being right on the highway means there is always a layer of dust on the windows no matter how often we clean them. The sound of trucks shifting gears is basically the soundtrack to our working day. It gets very hot in the afternoons, and the ceiling fans just seem to move the warm air around. We deal with a lot of logistics here, so there is always paperwork being handed over to drivers or checked against what's on the trucks. It’s not a quiet office environment at all. There is a lot of shouting back and forth to get things loaded and unloaded. We have a small area where we keep our files, but most of the activity happens near the entrance. The petrol bank nearby is where we usually go to get a snack or some water. It’s a very practical, hardworking kind of place. We don't spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty. Everything is about the work and getting the materials where they need to go. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the yard a bit of a mess, but we just throw some gravel down and keep moving. That’s just life on the highway road. We are just here doing our job as best as we can.
