Maharishi International Residential School

Maharishi International Residential School is right on the Chennai Bangalore Highway in Sunguvarchatram. Being out here in Kanchipuram means we have a good amount of space. Since it’s a residential place, the kids stay with us throughout the term. It is a big responsibility. The highway is always humming with trucks and cars going between the two cities. You get used to that sound after a while. We have the dormitories and the dining hall, and things run on a pretty strict clock. Morning tea, classes, lunch, and then some time for games. It’s not fancy, just a regular place for students to live and learn. The weather gets really hot in this part of Tamil Nadu, so we try to keep the rooms as airy as possible. The parents come by on specific days to see their children. We have staff who stay on campus too. It’s like a small village inside the walls. We don’t do much advertising. People mostly find us because they need a boarding school in this area. We focus on the textbooks and making sure the kids are safe and fed. Kanchipuram is 602106, so it’s a bit of a drive from the main city. We just keep things moving, one day at a time. It's a lot of work to manage the kitchen and the cleaning and the teaching all at once, but we manage.
