Alwin International Public School

Our place is on the Main Road in Padappai, right at Zion Avenue. Chennai weather is usually quite warm, so we’re always making sure the fans are spinning at full speed in the classrooms. The road outside is busy with people heading toward the city or moving around the local area. You can hear the horns honking if you stand near the front gate. We’ve got a mix of people working here, some who have been in Padappai their whole lives and others who commute in. The school has a courtyard where the kids gather, and it gets quite lively around noon. We have a small canteen where the smell of sambar and rice usually drifts out around lunch. Our office is a bit cramped with stacks of files and various supplies we need for the week. Sometimes we run out of chalk or the bell system acts up, and we just have to shout to let everyone know it’s time for the next period. It’s not the most modern setup, but it’s home for us during the day. We see the same vendors passing by outside every afternoon. When the rain comes, the ground gets a bit soft, but we just put out some mats. It’s a decent, regular school where we just do our jobs and go home.
