Government Higher Secondary School Boys Churhat

You’ll find our school at No 59, on Pillaiyar Koil Street in Kilakattalai. It’s a secondary school for boys, and as you can imagine, it gets pretty loud and energetic during the day. The building itself is an older one, located right in the middle of a busy residential area. We have a routine that hasn't changed much in years. The students arrive, we have the bell for the start of the day, and then it's a series of periods until the afternoon. The classrooms are quite plain—mostly just benches and blackboards. We don’t have much in the way of high-tech stuff. It’s more about the teachers standing at the front and talking. We have a small staff room where we keep our books and take our breaks. It’s often a bit cluttered with posters and old registers. Being in Chennai, the heat is something we just deal with every day. The fans stay on high, but it’s still warm. We know the families in Kilakattalai well since many of their boys come here. It’s a community school through and over. We don’t have any fancy mission statements. We just try to make sure the boys are in their seats and learning what they need to. It’s a lot of walking up and down the stairs and keeping an eye on the corridors. It's just a normal school day for us. We just do our best to keep things orderly and moving forward.
