Our office for Caterpillar India Pvt Ltd is on Sastri Street, right at number 4 on the first floor. This is in Ondikuppam, which is part of Manavalanagar in Thiruvallur. It is a bit away from the main city rush of Chennai, which we actually prefer. Being in Tamil Nadu, it gets very warm, so we have the windows open to catch any breeze, though usually, we just rely on the fans. The office is a simple one-room setup mostly, with some partitions for different desks. We handle a lot of the local operations from here. It is a very local vibe, with the neighbors knowing who we are and vice versa. We often see the local vendors passing by on the street below. We don’t have any big signs or anything, just a small nameplate. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful. Inside, we have everything we need to stay organized, even if it looks a bit cluttered to an outsider. We’ve been part of the Manavalanagar community for a while now. Most of the staff lives in the surrounding villages or towns, so there is a real local feel to the way we work. We aren't interested in being a big, cold corporation. We just want to do our jobs well and go home to our families at the end of the day.
