People often ask how things get done here at Gayathri Nagar 2nd Street. Most days start pretty early because the trucks for Anupurpalayam Road do not wait for anyone. We have been at this spot for a while now, just tucked away behind the main stretch. It isn't a fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. Just a regular workplace where we spend most of our time looking at fabrics and checking boxes. Sometimes the heat gets a bit much, but we have our fans running all day. The tea guy comes by around ten and that is usually the highlight of the morning for the staff. Most of what we do involves making sure the shipments are packed right before they head out. It is a lot of back and forth with the workers and the drivers. You get used to the noise of the sewing machines and the packing tape after a few weeks. It feels like a small community here in this part of town. Everyone knows the shop next door and we help each other out when someone is short on packing materials. We just keep our heads down and get the work finished. It is not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and the neighborhood is decent enough for what we do. We have seen a lot of changes on this street over the years, but East India Exports stays pretty much the same.
