Villiseri Lemon Farmers Producer Company Limited is situated at 1/83 on Perumal Kovil Street. As you can probably guess from the name, lemons are a big deal for us around here. The street is usually quiet, but it gets busy when it is time to move the fruit. The office is right there near the temple, so we hear the bells and the people passing by for prayers. It is a very local setup. We don't have any high-tech equipment in the office, just the basics to keep track of what the different farmers are bringing in. The smell of lemons is sometimes in the air, which is nice, but the work itself is pretty grueling. Sorting and making sure everything is ready for transport takes a lot of time and effort. We sit around the small table and figure out the transport schedules and who is picking what today. It's a very hands-on kind of business. We don't have a marketing team or anyone like that. It is just us, the farmers, and the people who help out on Perumal Kovil Street. The sun gets really hot in the middle of the day, so we usually start early. It’s a simple life, focused on the trees and the harvest, without any of the fancy corporate stuff you see in the cities. We just deal with what the season brings us and hope for the best.
