Mazhaicharal Organic Fresh Collective Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is based at 6/2 Nada Amman Kovil Mythanam in Keelapavoor. We are a bunch of farmers from around the Alangulam area in Tirunelveli who decided to work together. The name Mazhaicharal reminds us of the rain we always hope for. We grow organic stuff because that is how we want to eat ourselves. It is not easy, especially when pests show up and we cannot just spray them with the strong chemicals. We spend a lot of time in the fields and then meet up at the office near the temple to talk about how to sell what we have grown. Being a collective means we share the load. If one of us has a bad crop, the others help out. It is a very local way of doing things. We do not have any big-city executives telling us what to do. We just follow the seasons and do what feels right for the land. Sometimes the market prices are low and we struggle, but that is the life of a farmer. We want people to get fresh food that has not been messed with. Our setup in Keelapavoor is simple, just a place to gather and sort the produce. We are not interested in being a giant company. We just want to keep our farms going and make sure our families are taken care of while providing something decent to the people who buy from us.
