India Cements Ltd has been over at 88, Sankaran Nagar for quite a while. It’s a familiar spot for anyone living around here. The building isn't new, but it’s sturdy. We spend most of our days inside the gates. It’s a large site, so there is always something to do. The gatekeeper knows everyone by name. We get a lot of visitors throughout the week. Some are just looking for directions, others are here for the actual business. Sankaran Nagar is a quiet enough place. We try not to make too much noise early in the morning. The workers here come from the nearby villages. Most of them walk or take the bus. We have a canteen that serves basic food. It’s nothing fancy but it fills you up. The office staff stays busy with the ledgers. Everything is done on paper mostly. We have a few computers now, but the old ways still stick around. It’s a steady kind of life. We don’t have big sales pitches or anything. The name is on the wall and that’s enough. We just keep the machines running and the trucks loaded. It gets hot in the summer, but we have plenty of water. It’s just how we operate. Nothing more to it really. We aren't trying to impress anyone, just doing what needs doing.
