Gamesa Cement Company

We are over at 76, Fathima St in Panakudi. If you know the main road area, you've probably passed our building before. Dealing with cement is a dusty job, and there’s no way around that. My clothes usually have a thin layer of grey on them by the time noon rolls around. Gamesa Cement Company has been sitting on this lot for quite some time now. We have a small crew working here. Usually, it's just a couple of us moving bags and checking the trucks that come in. The sun hits the front of the building pretty hard in the afternoon. We have a small fan inside the office area, but it doesn't do much when the heat really picks up. People from around the village come by when they are fixing up their houses or building a new wall. It’s heavy work, but someone has to do it. Panakudi is a decent place to work, and it’s not too far from the other towns. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the company name painted on the wall. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck in the narrower part of the street, which causes a bit of a headache for everyone nearby. We just try to get the loads in and out as fast as we can. There’s no secret to it, just a lot of lifting and stacking. We close up when the sun goes down or when the last order of the day is finally picked up.
