Our workshop is situated at number 5 in Vidhya Nagar, Ammapettai. It’s a practical space where we spend our days working with metal and machinery. You can usually hear the sound of the lathes and grinders from the street. We have some old machines that have been with us since we started. They might look a bit worn, but they are very reliable and we know exactly how to use them. The floor is almost always covered in metal shavings and oil spots. We try to sweep up, but it never stays clean for long. We wear our work clothes every day and don't worry too much about how we look. It’s all about the engineering work here. We don't have a separate office for meetings. If someone comes to see us, we just talk to them right there among the tools. Most of our work comes from local businesses in Ammapettai who need something repaired or custom-made. We’ve lived and worked in this area for a long time. We don't do any marketing or post things online. People just know we are here if they need some metalwork done. We focus on getting the measurements right and making sure the final product is solid. It’s honest, hard work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. We just keep our heads down and get the jobs finished as they come in.
