Our place is located at 30 Chennai Byepass Rd. It’s a good spot because the trucks can get to us easily without getting stuck in the middle of the city. We do engineering work here, mostly fixing things and making parts that people need for their machines. The shop floor is usually a bit greasy and loud because of the engines and tools running all day. That’s just part of the job. My father started this and now we just keep it going. Some days are packed with work and other days we spend more time cleaning up the equipment. We have a small crew of guys who know what they are doing. We drink a lot of tea while we talk about the projects. The bypass road is always busy with traffic, so there is constant noise outside our doors. It doesn't bother us much anymore. We just focus on the metal and the blueprints in front of us. We have some heavy machinery that takes up a lot of space in the back. Sometimes a customer drops off a part that needs serious work and we stay late to finish it. It’s not a glamorous life but it keeps us busy. We don’t really bother with big signs or flashy lights. Everyone around here knows where Gk Sons is if they need something fixed. We just open up in the morning and see what the day brings.
