Larsen & Toubro

We are based out at 2/150, Narayana Naicknoor, in Esanatham, which is part of Karur. It’s a bit of a journey for some to get here, but it’s where we are set up. Larsen & Toubro is the name on the front, but we are just a small part of the whole thing here in this corner of Tamil Nadu. The area is a bit more rural than the busy city offices, which we actually like quite a bit. It is a lot quieter, and you can see more of the sky when you step outside. The office building is practical and doesn’t have many frills at all. We have our desks, our equipment, and that’s about all we need. Most of us grew up around here or in nearby villages. We talk about local news and the weather more than anything else during our breaks. There is a lot of dust sometimes from the unpaved parts of the roads, but we don't mind it much. We have a very direct way of doing things here. No one really uses big words when a simple one will do. We start early to beat the heat and keep things moving until it’s time to go home. It feels honest to work this way. We don't have a mission statement on the wall; we just have a list of things to do.
