We are over at the Madras Cement Ltd site in Govindapuram. It's a big place and there is always something going on with the construction. Our guys are usually out there in the heat, wearing their hard hats and getting things done. We handle the civil engineering side of things, mostly concrete work and structural stuff for the plant. It’s not glamorous work. The dust gets everywhere and the sun can be really harsh some afternoons. We have our small office trailer where we keep the blueprints and the paperwork. Most of the time, the tea is cold before we get a chance to drink it because someone needs something on the site. We’ve been part of this landscape for a while now. You can hear the machines running from morning until late. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, maybe a delivery is late or the weather turns bad, but we just figure it out. We aren't a huge corporate group with fancy suits; we’re just workers who know how to build things properly. Every day is different, though mostly it’s just the same routine of checking levels and making sure the steel is tied right. People in Govindapuram know us as the crew at the cement plant. We don't spend much time on the internet or making things look pretty. We just focus on the foundations and the walls. It’s hard on the boots but that’s the job we chose at Petron Civil Engineering Private Limitad.
