Up in the Tinsukia district, way out in the Margherita area, is where we are. Our company is Bijoypuragro Farmer Producer Company Limited. We’re based in Vijopur Bordumsa Town, and we usually meet at Binoy Kanti Chakma’s house. This part of Assam is famous for its tea, but we focus on other types of farming too. It’s a busy place, but our town is relatively quiet compared to the bigger cities. We are just a group of local people who decided to pool our resources. Farming can be a lonely job, and it’s also quite risky if you’re doing it all by yourself. We don't have a big corporate setup. Our office is just a room with some chairs and a lot of paperwork that we try to keep organized. Most of our days are spent out in the fields or moving stuff around. We deal with the usual problems like bugs, bad weather, and getting our produce to the market. Tinsukia is a long way from the main hubs, so we have to be smart about how we manage things. It’s a lot of trial and error. We learn as we go and try to help each other out when someone is having a bad run. It’s just a practical way to live and work. We aren't doing anything revolutionary; we’re just farming together as a community in Vijopur Bordumsa.
