Vimala Steels

At Vimala Steels, we spend our days surrounded by heavy metal rods and sheets. We are situated at 40, Cheroor Road, which is right by the Perunkavu Bridge. It’s a noisy part of town because of the bridge traffic and the sound of us moving steel around the yard. You can hear the clanging of the iron from quite a distance away. We have been working out of this location for a good while now. The floor is usually covered in a thin layer of iron dust, and our clothes get stained pretty quickly. It is not the kind of place you want to wear nice shoes to. We mostly serve local builders and people who are doing some repairs on their own houses. The bridge is a good landmark, so people don’t usually get lost trying to find us. We keep the big gate open all day so trucks can come in and out easily. Sometimes the delivery vehicles block the road for a minute, and we have to hurry up. We don't have any big brochures or fancy displays. The steel is just stacked up in the back by size and type. It gets really hot under the metal roof when the sun is high. We just do our work, talk to the customers about what they need for their construction, and get it loaded up. It is a straightforward, simple business for us.
