Star Chairs

Down here in Thrissur, specifically in the Anda Parambu area near Mundur, you’ll find our place called Star Chairs. We spend our days surrounded by all kinds of seating—office chairs, plastic ones for events, and those heavy wooden pieces that people like for their dining rooms. The workshop can get quite dusty with all the materials, and there's usually a smell of fabric or new plastic in the air. It’s a local operation, so we know a lot of the people who walk through the door. Sometimes a neighbor drops by just to chat or ask if we can fix a broken leg on an old stool they have at home. We aren't a massive factory, just a group of people who know how a chair should feel when you sit in it for a long time. The roads around here can be a bit tricky during the monsoon, but we still manage to get the deliveries out on the small truck. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights and mirrors. Most of the chairs are just stacked up, ready to go to whoever ordered them. It's honest work, and it keeps us busy from morning till the sun goes down. My cousin helps with the loading, and we have a couple of guys who are really good with the upholstery tools. We just try to make things that won't fall apart after a month of use.
