We operate out of Kallettumkara, which is a quiet spot compared to the bigger cities in Kerala. The post office is nearby and that’s how most people find their way to us. It’s a lot of green trees around here but inside the gates it is all metal and engineering work. We have a fairly large shed where all the fabrication happens. The sound of hammers and welding machines is pretty much the soundtrack to our day. Most of the workers here have been doing this for a long time and they can probably do their jobs with their eyes closed, though we obviously don't recommend that. When it rains, which happens a lot here, the sound on the tin roof is so loud you can’t hear yourself think. We just keep working through it. We have a small area out front where we park the scooters and bikes. There isn't much in the way of a front desk; you usually just walk in and find someone in blue overalls to talk to. We handle a lot of heavy parts and sometimes the crane has a mind of its own, so we have to stay alert. It’s a practical environment where we focus on getting the dimensions right and making sure the pieces fit together like they should. We don't do much marketing or anything like that, we just let the work speak for itself in the community.
