V S Hollow Bricks

We have been here for a while now at Vinitha Bhawan. Making hollow bricks is what we do every single day. It’s a bit messy and there is always dust around, but that is just how the job goes. Our place is located in Po-Pottayal Malinkal. People often find us by just asking the neighbors if they get turned around on the way here. Getting the concrete mix just right takes up most of our morning. It is hard physical work, especially when the sun gets really high in the sky and the heat starts to kick in. Sometimes the machines we use act up, and we have to spend an hour or two fixing things with whatever tools are handy. A fancy office with air conditioning isn't something we have. Just a small desk and a few wooden chairs are there for when people stop by to talk about their orders. We write everything down in a big paper ledger. Trucks come and go through the main gate all day long, and we try to keep the stacks of bricks straight so they don't tip over. It’s just me and a couple of guys from around this area. Knowing everyone in the neighborhood makes the work feel better. If someone needs a few bricks for a garden wall or enough for a whole new house, we get the bricks ready. Most days are long, but it feels good to see the stacks getting smaller as the trucks head out to the building sites.
