Aswathy Hollow Bricks

Our yard is right on MC Road in Konjira. It is a pretty straightforward setup we have here. We make hollow bricks mostly. I think people like them because they are easier to lift and keep the houses a bit cooler. We started Aswathy Hollow Bricks because there was a lot of building happening around Konjira and not enough bricks to go around. It is mostly outdoor work, so we are at the mercy of the weather. When it pours, we have to cover everything up fast. It can be a bit chaotic on those days. We have got a couple of machines that make a lot of noise, which I am sure the neighbors aren't always happy about, but we try to keep it to daytime hours. There is no big marketing team here. It is just me, a few guys from the village, and a lot of concrete mix. We don't really do fancy brochures. Most people just stop their trucks on the side of MC Road and walk in to ask about prices. We tell them what we have and when it can be ready. Sometimes we are ahead of schedule, sometimes we are behind if a machine breaks down. That is just life. We try to be fair with everyone. If you need blocks for a wall or a shed, we are usually around. It’s dusty and tiring, but seeing a house go up using our bricks feels alright. We keep our heads down and work hard.
