Govt Polytechnic College

Our college is located on Padmavilasom Street in the Fort area of Thiruvananthapuram. It’s an old building with a lot of history behind it. You can see the big gates from the main road. We have different departments for engineering and technical stuff. The workshops are the heart of the place. You can always hear the sound of machines or students working on their projects. It’s a government-run place, so there’s a lot of bureaucracy and paperwork involved in everything we do. The hallways are long and have that specific smell of old books and oil from the labs. We see students coming in from all parts of Kerala. Most of them stay in hostels nearby. We have a library that’s usually quiet, but the rest of the campus is pretty lively. Our staff is a mix of older teachers who have seen everything and some younger ones just starting out. We spend our days making sure the labs are stocked with whatever materials are needed for the practicals. It’s not a luxury setup, but it’s where a lot of people get their start in technical jobs. We handle the exams and the admissions every year, which is always a stressful time. But overall, it’s a steady place to work and learn. We have some nice trees in the courtyard where students sit between their classes. It gets very hot in the afternoons, so the shade is always crowded.
