It’s a busy little area in Vadakarai, and we’ve been running Tniamp 2019-2020 Sothupparai Farmer Producer Company Limited from here for a few years now. The Sothupparai name comes from the local geography, and we take that seriously since most of us have our farms not too far from the water sources around here. The street where our office is can get a bit crowded with two-wheelers and people walking by, but it feels like home. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of papers and a few of us trying to coordinate what needs to be done for the upcoming harvest. We aren't doing anything fancy; we’re just a bunch of farmers from Theni who decided it was better to work as one group rather than all of us struggling alone. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, and we just sit outside on the steps and talk until it comes back. Being in the 625601 area, we get some good weather for growing, but the market prices are always a headache. We spend our mornings checking in with the members and seeing who needs what. It’s a practical way to live, and while the office isn't much to look at, it serves us well enough for our meetings.
