United Metal Industries

United Metal Industries is located on Ram Mandir Cross Road in Goregaon West. We are situated right behind Singh Industrial Estate No. 1, which can be a bit tricky to find if you aren’t looking closely at the signs. Being off S.V. Road means we are in one of the busier parts of Mumbai, where there’s always a mix of small shops and bigger industrial blocks. Our place is pretty straightforward. We have the workshop area where all the metal work happens and a small space for the paperwork. It’s often quite noisy because of the cutting and shaping tools we use throughout the day. The walls are a bit stained and the floor has seen better days, but that’s what happens in a metal shop. We don’t have a fancy lobby or air conditioning in the main area, so we just leave the doors open for whatever breeze comes through the alley. Most of the guys here have been working with metal for a long time and they don't need much instruction. We just get the orders, look at the specs, and get to work. Sometimes the rain in Mumbai makes things difficult, especially when we are trying to load stuff onto the trucks in the narrow road behind the estate, but we manage. We aren’t interested in looking polished; we just want to make sure the metal parts leave here the way they are supposed to be.
