Stone Shippers

Our place at Stone Shippers is located on the Shil-Mahape Road, right near that Octroi Post in Shilphata. If you know the area, you know it’s a major hub for trucks and heavy transport. That’s why we are there. We deal with a lot of stone that needs to be moved out, so being near the post makes sense for us. The ground is almost always muddy when it rains, and the dust is thick when it’s dry. We spend our hours watching the cranes lift heavy blocks and making sure the drivers have their papers in order. It’s a gritty kind of job. There’s always the sound of engines idling and the clanking of metal chains. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning; we’re mostly out there near the road where the action is. Shilphata is a busy junction, and we’re right in the thick of it. We keep track of everything that comes in and goes out on our clipboards. It’s basic, hard work. We see a lot of different people every day, mostly truckers and laborers, and we just get on with the business of shipping stone. There isn't much to it other than being reliable and making sure the stone gets to where it’s supposed to go without too much trouble. It’s a long day, starting early and finishing when the last truck leaves the gate for the night.
