You can find us at the Mek Industrial Complex, specifically unit A-8/29. We’re right along the Mumbai-Poona Road, so there’s never a shortage of noise from the trucks and cars zooming by. We’ve been working on dies here for quite some time now. The shop is filled with heavy blocks of metal and the smell of cooling fluid. It’s precision work, even if the workshop looks a bit rough around the edges to an outsider. We’ve got some heavy-duty equipment that takes a lot of maintenance and care. My hands are usually stained with grease that won’t come off, no matter how much I scrub at the end of the shift. That’s just part of the job, I guess. We have a small corner for our files and a tiny stove for making tea when we get a minute. The afternoon sun hits the front of the unit pretty hard, so we usually have some old curtains or cardboard up to keep the glare off the machines. It’s a busy complex, and we know most of our neighbors by their first names. We aren't big on meetings or fancy corporate talk; we just look at the specs and get to cutting the metal. The traffic on the road outside is a constant hum in the background of everything we do. It’s just a solid, working-class shop where we focus on getting the shapes right for the folks who need them.
