S.K. Beads

Our shop is Number 4 in the Vijaya Bhavan building, located in the Rai Pada area near Station Road. It is a small space, but we have managed to fit a lot of beads into it. We spend most of our time sitting at the counter sorting through different colors and sizes. It is a quiet kind of work, very different from the noise of the station nearby. The walls are lined with shelves that hold hundreds of small jars and bags. Sometimes it feels like we are surrounded by a sea of colors. We don't have any fancy lighting or modern displays. We just use some basic bulbs so we can see what we are doing. The floor is a bit uneven and the door squeaks every time someone comes in, but we don't mind it. We have been in this building for a long time and know the other shopkeepers well. We often share a cup of tea in the afternoon when things are slow. It is a small business and we handle everything ourselves, from opening up in the morning to cleaning the floors at night. We don't have any big advertisements or anything like that. People mostly find us through word of mouth or by just walking past on their way to the station. It is a simple, peaceful way to spend the day and we are happy with it.
