Shridharmgiri Rural Farmers Producer is a small outfit we run out of Surdi(N), which is in the Majalgaon area. You can find us at the home of Garad Santosh Shripati. We are rural people through and through. Most of us have lived in Surdi our whole lives and haven't really known anything other than farming. We started this producer company because it felt like we needed a better way to organize our work. It’s mostly just us neighbors coming together. We deal with the crops that grow in this soil, mostly whatever is in season. There’s always a lot of talking involved, usually over a cup of tea. We don't have a professional office with computers and all that. Most of our records are kept in simple notebooks. It might seem a bit old-fashioned to some, but it works for us. Majalgaon is a place where people work hard and don't expect much in return. We just want to get a fair price for what we grow. Sometimes the rains don't come when they should, and that’s when we really have to stick together. We don't have any fancy mission statements. We just show up every day and do the work. It’s a quiet life, but it’s ours. If you’re ever passing through Surdi, you’ll see us out in the fields or gathered at Santosh’s place.
