Cien Plasticulture

You can find us over at Plot A-733 in the MIDC area of Khairne. It’s right off the Thane-Belapur Road, which is pretty convenient for getting materials in and out. We work with plastic products mostly for farms and gardens. The yard is usually full of rolls of plastic and irrigation pipes. It gets pretty loud in the workshop when the extruders are running. We’ve been in this part of the industrial area for quite some time. The rain gets really heavy around here during the monsoon, and we have to make sure everything is covered up properly so it doesn't get ruined. We aren't a big flashy company. It’s just us working through the orders as they come in. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, and we just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. The staff mostly lives nearby in Thane or Navi Mumbai. We keep the lunchroom simple with a few plastic chairs and a big table. There is always a layer of plastic dust on the windows, no matter how much we clean them. It’s just the nature of the job. We don’t do much advertising; people just know we are here at the end of the road. We focus on getting the dimensions right and making sure the plastic is strong enough for the sun. The clock on the wall has been ten minutes fast for three years now.
