Shri Ganesh Sofa Maker

Our workshop for Shri Ganesh Sofa Maker is located in Flat No 307 over at Shri J P Nagar in Bhayander East. We are quite close to the New Cloth Market and not far from Potdar School, so the neighborhood is usually full of people shopping or parents dropping off kids. It’s a bit of an unusual spot being in a flat, but that’s where we do all our cutting and sewing. We spend most of our days surrounded by foam, fabric, and wooden frames. It gets dusty, but that’s just how making sofas goes. We started this because we knew how to work with our hands and liked building things. People from the cloth market often point customers our way when they’re looking for someone to fix up an old couch. It’s a walk-up, so we’re always moving materials up and down the stairs. Bhayander East has changed a lot, but we’ve stayed in this same spot. We don't have a showroom with bright lights. Instead, you just see the work in progress if you come by. Sometimes there are three sofas being built at once, and it gets a bit cramped. We just focus on the task at hand, making sure the cushions are right and the frames are solid. It’s honest work and we like being part of this little community near the school. We don't mind the hard work. It keeps us busy and the day goes by fast when you are making something.
