Our site is at Post Samerpur in Akrampur. It is a bit out of the way, but that is where the work happens. We focus on stainless steel. It is a tough business and the environment reflects that. There is a lot of heat and the smell of metal everywhere. Samerpur is a quiet place otherwise, mostly just regular folks going about their lives. Our facility is a large shed with plenty of space for the machines and the stacks of steel sheets. It is loud when the machines are running, so we have to shout a bit to be heard. We don't spend much time in an office; most of the day is spent on the floor seeing how things are coming along. The walls have some soot on them and the yard is full of scraps. We have been here for a long time, and we know every corner of this post. It is not the kind of place you see in a magazine. It is a functional workspace. We wear heavy boots and shirts that get dirty fast. When the shift ends, we usually sit outside for a bit to cool off before heading home. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy lobby. We just want to make sure the steel we produce is solid and ready for use. Akrampur is a hardworking area and we fit right in. There is always a truck parked somewhere near our post, waiting to be loaded up with the next batch. We have a small radio in the corner that plays the news and some songs, but you can only hear it when the machines are off. Our lunch breaks are simple, usually just sitting around a wooden table sharing what we brought from home. It is a long day from start to finish, but there is a satisfaction in seeing the raw material turn into something useful. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. It is just metal, heat, and a lot of effort from all of us here.
