Rayabagh Farmers Producer Company is tucked away in Nazrana Apartment, which is in Shantawadi Lane over in Andheri West. It’s a bit of a squeeze having a farmer-focused office right in the middle of Mumbai, but this is where we handle all the logistics and the city side of the business. Most of the actual farming happens far away, but we need to be here to talk to the distributors and get the paperwork sorted for the government. The traffic on the way to Andheri is always a mess, so we usually start early. Our office, B/202, isn't very large and it gets quite loud with the street noise outside. We spend most of our time on laptops or on the phone, trying to make sure the farmers back home get a fair deal for what they grow. Sometimes it feels strange being in a tall building in Mumbai while talking about soil and crops, but that’s how it works for us. We’ve got a small team here, and we mostly just focus on the daily tasks of moving produce and keeping records. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of coordination and making sure things arrive where they’re supposed to. If you’re looking for us, just find the lane near the station area.
