Rajesh Ice Candy

The shop is right there at Shop No.4 in Sambhaji Chowk. If you know Rajuri in Junnar, you probably know where the bus stand is. We are just a short walk from there. It gets pretty dusty out here sometimes with all the buses coming and going, but we keep the place as clean as we can. My father started this because he saw people waiting for their rides in the heat. It is a small space, nothing fancy. We have the chest freezers lined up against the wall. Most days, it is just me or my brother behind the counter. We spend a lot of time checking the temperature and making sure the sticks are frozen solid. People stop by after work or when they are hopping off the bus. Some kids from the local school come by in the afternoons too. We don't have a big seating area or anything, just the counter. You grab your candy and go. Dealing with the electricity cuts is the hardest part of the job. We have to be quick with everything. It is just a regular life here in Junnar. We have been in this spot for a while now and most of the neighbors know us by name. It is not a complicated business. We just make sure the freezer stays cold and the flavors are what people like. It is a lot of standing around and waiting for the next bus to pull in.
