Presently Not Working

My spot is in Satya Vandan CHS, which is on the Dhokali Kolshet Road over in Thane. It’s 304 A, so it’s up a few floors. The view from the window is mostly other buildings and a bit of the road, but I like watching the monsoon clouds come in from here. Thane has grown a lot, and this area is always busy with new construction and people moving in. Living and working from the same place means I don’t have to deal with the local trains every morning, which is a huge relief. The building society is pretty strict about visitors, so it stays fairly quiet in the hallways. I’ve got my desk tucked into the corner of the living room. It’s not a formal office at all. There are piles of books everywhere and my coffee mug usually leaves rings on the papers. I chose the name Presently Not Working because it felt honest at the time, and I just never bothered to change it. Most of my day is spent answering messages or trying to fix things that broke. It’s a one-man show for the most part. Sometimes I go down to the local shop for a vada pav when I’m tired of cooking. The neighbors know me as the guy who is always home, and I don't mind that reputation. It’s a steady, simple life here in Maharashtra, and I wouldn't really want to be anywhere else right now.
