Patel Engineering Ltd has been sitting on Patel Estate Road in Jogeshwari (W) for a long time now. You walk down this road and you see the shops and the trucks lined up, and we are right there in the middle of it. It’s a busy place. Sometimes the dust gets in the office, but that’s just how things go around here. We started with just a few machines and a couple of guys who knew what they were doing with metal. Now the workshop is a bit bigger, but the floor is still covered in the same kind of scrap and oil. We spend most of our days looking at drawings or standing by the lathes making sure everything is coming out right. It isn’t always quiet, and the tea guy comes by twice a day which is basically the highlight of the afternoon for most of the staff. People know us in Jogeshwari because we’ve been here through the monsoon floods and the hot summers without really moving. We don't have fancy leather chairs or a big reception desk. It’s mostly just desks piled with files and the sound of hammers from the back. If someone needs something done, they usually just walk in and ask. We try to get things out the door on time, though the traffic on the main road can be a real pain for the delivery vans. It’s just work, day in and day out, keeping the machines running.
