Down in Thane, we are located at Pokhran Road No 1. Northern Marine Management Pvt Ltd is tucked into Vartak Nagar. It’s a busy area, especially with all the people moving back and forth to Mumbai. We handle a lot of things related to ships and the sea, even though we are sitting in an office. There’s always a lot of coordination involved, talking to people in different ports and making sure the crews are sorted out. The office can get quite loud when everyone is on the phone at the same time. We have maps on the walls and plenty of files stacked on the cabinets. It isn't a glamorous job, but it’s important for keeping things moving on the water. During the monsoon, the rain hits the windows so hard you can barely hear yourself think. We just keep our heads down and get through the logs and schedules. Most of us have been in the marine industry for a long time, so we don't get surprised by much anymore. We don't have a big fancy lobby. You just walk in and see us working. We value the practical side of things. It’s about getting the job done right so the vessels can keep sailing without any trouble. Sometimes we get updates at odd hours because of time zones, but we’re used to it. It’s just how marine management works. We like being part of this sector and seeing the work through until it is finished.
