Mata Vailankanni

Our shop is number 14 in the Sada Satya Apartment building. We’re in Bhayander East, tucked away behind Ma, on Hansol Road. It’s a quiet enough street most days, though the morning rush can be a bit loud when everyone is heading out for work. We’ve been in this shop for a good while, and most of the neighbors know us by name now. It’s not a very big space, just enough for the counter and some shelves along the walls. We sell various things, whatever the local people seem to need the most. The name Mata Vailankanni is important to us, so we keep a small picture near the entrance for blessings. The apartment building itself is a bit older, so we’ve had to do some repairs on the shutters and the flooring over the years. My nephew helps me out in the evenings after he finishes his college classes. We don’t have any fancy computer systems, just a notebook where we write down what we sell and what we need to order next week. It’s a simple way to run things, but it works for a small shop like ours. Sometimes people just stop by to say hello or ask about the weather while they buy their things. We stay open until late so the people coming home from the station can pick up what they need. It’s a friendly neighborhood and we’re glad to be a part of it.
