We are located at Astane village in the Malegaon area. Our group is called Malmatha Shetkari Vikas Producer Company Limited. If you come looking for us, we are at Jali Sanket Ahire’s place. It’s just a regular house where we handle the business side of things. Nashik is famous for many things, but here in Malegaon, we just focus on our local crops and getting through the seasons. Farming is a gamble, and we figured doing it as a group might make the odds a bit better. We spend most of our time out in the fields, so the office doesn't see us much unless there is something important to sign. There is always something to do, like fixing a fence or checking the irrigation. We don't have any fancy equipment to show off. Most of what we do is based on what our fathers taught us, with a few new ideas we picked up along the way. Sometimes we argue about when to harvest, but in the end, we decide what is best for the group. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. We are proud to be from Astane. The company is just a way for us to stay together and maybe get a better deal at the market. It is not a corporate thing, just a bunch of neighbors working on the land.
