Lal Sweets

Lal Sweets is located in Kandivali East, specifically at A/1. It’s a small corner of the world, but it’s ours. The shop isn’t much to look at from the outside, just a standard storefront with a heavy shutter. We spend most of our time behind the counter. The work is mostly repetitive, weighing out portions and wrapping them up in paper or boxes. We have a lot of different trays lined up, and we have to keep track of what was made today and what was made yesterday. It’s important to stay on top of that. The neighborhood around Kandivali East is always moving, so we get a good mix of people. Some are in a hurry, others like to linger and ask about every single item. We don’t have any fancy uniforms or anything, just our regular clothes and an apron. Sometimes the overhead lights flicker a bit, but we’re used to it. The kitchen in the back is where all the actual heavy lifting happens with the big milk pots. It gets quite steamy back there. We don’t do any big advertising. People just see the sign or hear about us from their neighbors. It’s just a simple sweets shop trying to do things the right way. We don’t pretend to be anything we aren’t. We just show up, do the work, and go home. That is how we have always done it.
